THE REALITY EDITOR A film by David N.Donihue
In 2025, a Hollywood editor goes on the run for his life. Now, it is time to tell his story, with the only
tools he has left, one million stock video clips. An action-packed and shrewdly funny
dramedy/thriller.
PLOT:
A Hollywood editor goes on the run for his life, using nothing but stock footage to tell the savagely
funny and terrifying story of how he trashed his life and the lives of everyone around him - as he
plots a way to make it through alive and correct everything that has gone wrong.
After years of destroying the reputations of dating show participants from his comfy editing bay, Isaac
Newman and his predatory producers have a contestant's suicide on their hands. One that quickly
turns into a nightmare of lawsuits and the former costar of the deceased, stalking them.
Yet when Isaac finds out the show had been scouring halfway houses to find contestants that
would be more likely to break apart, he steals a laptop and plays whistleblower, only to find out, he
has blown the whistle on more than he bargained for.
With murderous producers hot on his tail, the police after him and the help of the only person he
can trust, his childhood friend Judy the Junky, Isaac hatches a plan to tell the truth and make it
right, by taking the studio hostage and finally airing his own version of the story.
Isaac is about to make the world listen to his truth, and in doing so, turn everyone’s dark intentions
into his life’s great moment of light as he uses stock to prove that ANYONE CAN MAKE ANYTHING
OUT OF ANYTHING.
A DEEPER LOOK AT THE AUDIENCE FOR THE REALITY EDITOR
19 to 35-year-olds. This generation is what Isaac (our faceless protagonist) lives and breathes. On
their behalf, he calls out the manipulations of the world and tries to make himself better, just by the
way he takes in the information and re-edits his own story. Like a modern day PUMP UP THE
VOLUME / FIGHT CLUB for the 2025 era, THE REALITY EDITOR crushes his audience with truth
bombs while dodging bullets and searching for inner peace.
Like this generation, Isaac Newman hides behind technology. We live in a time where every young
person considers themselves an editor, cutting on Snapchat/TikTok and CapCut, afraid of others,
yet dumping it all into the universe with tech. This film is about this generation of the abused and
used, who find their voice through the crafty use of tech and fight to say yes to what is right, and no
to what is untrue.
Even beyond its original setup and tone, The Reality Editor is a profoundly spoken story and a
cheerleader film for the damaged at heart. A story that proves before your very own eyes, that
ANYONE CAN MAKE ANYTHING OUT OF ANYTHING!
